The hillside city of Dalat is a popular spot on any backpacking route through Vietnam with the cooler climate providing a much needed break from the temperatures found in the rest of the country.

In the surroundings you’ll find beautiful landscapes, forests and a number of waterfall, including Datlana falls near Dalat which is famous for it’s canyoning tours, I can highly recommend trying one of these or checking out the alpine coaster.

Quick Summary:

Full Guide to the Best Hostels in Dalat

Mr Peace – Best OVERALL Hostel

  • Lively atmosphere with happy hour every night
  • Daily family dinner to mingle with other travellers
  • Great value breakfast

I’ve rated Mr Peace as my overall best hostel in Dalat for it’s friendly family environment, lively rooftop bar with happy hours each night and a great shared dinner where you’ll get to know other guests.

Whilst it’s not a party hostel, there is a upbeat atmosphere with lots of drinking and music. However the music stops at 10pm so you can still get a good nights sleep.

They also offer a daily food tour which is not something I’ve seen in other hostels in Dalat.

Pretty Backpackers – Best for SOLO TRAVELLERS

  • Regular family meals
  • Chilled but sociable atmosphere
  • Comfy beds in a cool room

Just across the road from Mr Peace is Pretty Backpackers Hostel which was my favourite hostel in Dalat when I was solo travelling there.

The hostel is very similar to Mr Peace however it’s got a bit more of a relaxed atmosphere so it’s easy to meet some fellow solo travellers.

They have family meals a few times per week and have many tours you can book on to such as the canyoning tour.. The atmosphere is chilled with a nice rooftop and you can help yourself to beer and pay at the end.

Cozy Nook – Best CHILLED SOCIAL Hostel

  • Cheap and delicious family dinner with other travellers
  • Plenty of spaces to chill out
  • Won awards for being one of Vietnams best hostels

With a chilled out social atmosphere in a family run hostel, Cozy Nook hostel in Dalat has won plenty of awards for it’s service including the 4th best hostel in Vietnam.

There is a shared family dinner which is great for solo travellers looking to mix with others and they also offer cooking classes including a visit to the market.

The facilities are top notch too with great showers, large beds and free tea and coffee. There are also free breakfasts and occasional free cocktail, no wonder it’s one of the best hostels in Dalat!

Kim Coung (King Kong) House – Best PARTY Hostel

  • Happy hour with free cocktails
  • Epic after parties with free shuttle bus from maze bar
  • Great countryside tour with Mr K

Dalat isn’t particularly known for it’s partying, but that will all change when you’ve stayed at King Kong house.

The highlight of this hostel is the after parties on the 5th floor. In the evenings, a free shuttle will take you to the night market and pick you up at 12 from the Maze bar. But the night doesn’t end there, King Kong hostel is the one of the only bars in the city open after midnight.

The facilities are also nice with comfortable beds,e ach with it’s own plug and lamp. Mr K’s waterfall tour is also really great and a good way to spend time with other travellers before a heavy night of partying.

Mookas Home – Best Hostel FACILITIES

  • Pod style beds for privacy
  • Can arrange early check in if you’ve arrived on night bus
  • Free beer each night and BBQ every other night

Mookas home is the best hostel in Dalat when it comes to facilities. The rooms are top notch with comfy pod style beds, each with it’s own light and plug socket. You’ll receive  fresh towels every day and there are plenty of toiletries on hand.

This is a very social hostel with 1 free beer for each guest every night to help meet fellow backpackers and a BBQ every other night. Look out for the pool table too.
